Dallas Zoo
Accounting / Finance Internship

Interns become actively involved in the Zoo’s animal care departments, conservation/research efforts, operations, and administrative positions.
The Finance intern will work directly with the CFO on projects requiring financial and statistical analysis. In addition to participating in existing working teams around implementation of a new POS system and learning about the business side of the Zoo, the intern will be assigned a minimum of two projects requiring independent research, data analysis, and development of financial scenarios to inform executive decision-making. The intern will have an opportunity to present his/her findings to the executive team at the end of the internship.

- Participate in working meetings with the POS system implementation team, along with assigned personnel from the accounting/finance department.
- Perform research and data/financial analysis on two independent projects (to be assigned), and with guidance from the CFO, develop appropriate financial scenarios to inform executive decision-making.
- Participate as needed in the development of the Zoo’s first 5-year financial plan.
- Learn about Zoo operations, fundraising, education and conservation programs.

Interns work 20-40 hours per week for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks during one of the sessions listed below. The purpose of the placements is to help the intern gain experience related to their education, and most are unpaid positions. The Dallas Zoo will work with students to document necessary time or projects needed to gain university credit for the internship. Unfortunately, we cannot provide transportation, housing, or a stipend. Position limited to US nationals.
