Mechanic Technician

MECHANIC TECHNICIAN

 

The Mechanic Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs the Zoo’s motorized rides including the Skyline, train, roller coaster and carousel. Duties also include maintaining the Zoo’s vehicle fleet.  

 

The Mechanic Technician job requires mechanical motor skills as well as knowledge of computer based electrical systems.  The successful candidate must have automotive and small engine technical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and make repairs as needed.  Experience in amusement ride operation & repair is preferred, but not required. Requirements include:

 

  • Five (5) years of work experience in mechanical, electrical, or pneumatic field.
  • High school diploma / G.E.D.  Additional certification/ trade school education preferred. 
  • Knowledge and skills in hydraulics, PLC, and welding different materials.
  • Safely operating aerial work platforms, such as boom and scissor lifts
  • Climbing ladders and scaffolding, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Working outside, in all types of weather conditions
  • Ability to operate a 2-way radio
  • Willingness to work occasional OT, week-ends & holidays
  • At least 21 years old
  • Possess a valid Indiana driver’s license, and have a driving record that is insurable by the Zoo’s insurer. 

 

Competitive benefit package (medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, 403b) upon 90 days of employment, immediate paid holidays.  Once eligible, new full time employees enjoy 160 hours of Paid Time Off.
