Downtown Aquarium - Houston
Trainer
The Downtown Aquarium in Houston, Texas is currently seeking a full time Trainer I, II, or III based on experience.
Responsibilities include:
- All aspects of animal husbandry and training for tigers and ambassador animal collection.
- Creating and implementing behavioral and environmental enrichment.
- Maintaining exhibit aesthetics.
- Live animal demonstrations including outreach, public shows, and classroom programs.
- Guest interactions, public speaking, and tours.
- Being able to train new behaviors in a team atmosphere.
- Must be observant and able to keep detailed electronic records.
- Must be organized and self-motivated, with desire to see completion of projects.
- Assisting other departments when necessary.
- Communicates effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
- Support the mission and values of Landry’s and the Downtown Aquarium – Houston.
Job requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree with major course work in Zoology or related field preferred. Work experience may be substituted.
- Paid experience with an AZA accredited institution preferred.
- Experience working large carnivores or flighted bird experience preferred. Show experience is a plus.
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work holidays and weekends.
- Must have the ability to lift 50lbs.
