The Topeka Zoo is seeking qualified applicants for a Zoo Keeper. This position is responsible for daily husbandry care, feeding, implementation of enrichment and involvement in training programs. Keen observation skills and ability to communicate well, including documentation for a variety of animals in the Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center.
Provides meaningful exhibits, excellent customer service, presentations and animal care. Able to work by oneself or in a team setting. Must follow all applicable standards and policies set forth by the Topeka Zoo, AZA and USDA. Work hours are dependent upon established Zoo operating hours, and includes weekend and holiday work.
This position is considered a relief keeper or generalist, working with a variety of species, in many areas under the animal care department. Areas include but may not be limited to, great apes, felids, rainforest/avian collection, invertebrates, reptiles and animal commissary/diet area.
