Wildlife Keeper Internship

Description:

Miami Seaquarium internships are designed for college students and recent graduates who wish to gain valuable experience working with a variety of animal species.  This internship will help aspiring animal keepers acquire hands-on experience that is a prerequisite to gaining employment in the animal field.

Wildlife Keeper Internship - Interns will be exposed to all aspects of the daily care of  West Indian Manatees and various tropical birds.

Internships are available for the spring and fall. Interns will be incorporated  into the daily activities of the animal care department including: diet preparation and sanitation, exhibit cleaning and maintenance, speaking in public, guest relations/ interactions, animal monitoring and safety, as well as assist with animal training and  husbandry sessions.

Interns must be able to work full-time, 40 hours per week, for 6 months. This internship requires heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs on a daily basis, and candidates must be physically fit. Current SCUBA and CPR certifications are preferred.

The internships are paid positions at $8.05 per hour; there is no housing available. However, the intern coordinators will do their best to provide assistance in locating housing options.

Internship Dates and Deadlines:

Spring: January- June. Deadline: October 14th, 2017

Fall: June-January. Deadline: April 23rd, 2017

$8.05 per hour
