Our Purpose: The Houston Zoo connects communities with animals, inspiring action to save wildlife. Are you an experienced Project Manager with a proven working history supervising the design and development of new construction and capital improvement projects? The ideal candidate will be able to provide oversight for general, preventative, and corrective construction of infrastructure, facilities, exhibits, system and equipment and serve as interface between internal zoo clients and external contractors/vendors.
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Specialized training and significant expertise in principles, procedures, practices, routines and techniques in construction and maintenance trades are required. Strong administrative skills, customer service experience and construction background required. Experience with Microsoft Scheduler, CAD and Access software is a plus.
Experience in the design, development and implementation of large-scale new construction and capital improvement projects, including the reading and interpretation of complex architectural drawings. Experience in managing and effectively organizing labor crews for the successful completion of medium to large scale construction projects. Ten years of experience in construction or mechanical maintenance are required, including previous supervisory experience. The ability to work within a team environment with emphasis on strong communication is a must. Experience estimating costs of potential construction projects, maintenance work, GMP and other related negotiations.
