SeaCamp Waterfront Supervisor

The Texas State Aquarium provides high quality, entertaining programming through education, conservation, and wildlife rehabilitation. We strive to provide our guests with an exciting, educational, and memorable experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all waterfront activities for day camp participants, including paddle boats, canoes, kayaks, fishing, water sampling, and swimming.

  • Maintain pool water chemistry, cleaning, and filtration to meet State of Texas requirements.

  • Teach water safety, including water craft (e.g., paddle boats, kayaks, etc.) use and activities, to day camp participants.

  • Assist in the development of the day camp activity schedule.

  • Safely provide supervision, guidance and direction to minor campers.

  • Assist with classroom and field-based activities, as assigned.

  • Effectively communicate with campers, parents, and colleagues.

  • Serve as a positive representative of the Texas State Aquarium.

  • Maintain a positive attitude under stressful conditions.

  • Comply with safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe work practices to supervisor and / or Human Resources.

  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge and skills.

 

Experience Required

A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required; a minimum of one month related experience or training. An equivalent combination of education or experience may also meet the required qualifications.
