Marketing Communications, a department within the Marketing Division, is responsible for implementing and managing the Museum brand initiatives, printing the majority of products required by Museum staff and partners, editing the Museum website and E-Newsletter communications, and producing a wide range of digital products used for marketing and promotional purposes both in-house and through social media.


An outstanding opportunity for a motivated and focused individual in the Marketing Communications Department as a Graphic Design Intern to assist with designing and/or updating print and digital marketing and communications collateral, as well as other institutional projects, in accordance with our established brand standards.


  • Graphic and production print design for directional/event signage 
  • Graphic and production print design/layout for postcards, brochures, flyers, and a variety of other promotional products 
  • Digital design of for social media use (Facebook ads/online banners, etc.) 
  • Assistance with print production (set up files, archive, etc.) 
  • Participate in meetings and brainstorming sessions for upcoming projects


  • Work on Apple Macintosh OS platform 
  • Currently pursuing a Graphic Design undergrad or graduate degree or have equivalent work experience 
  • Demonstrated experience in Adobe Creative Cloud applications: Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop 
  • Demonstrated experience in layout design and typography, Microsoft Word, and database software such as Filemaker Pro 
  • Verbal and interpersonal communication skills 
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work both independently and collaboratively 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage simultaneous tasks and projects for multiple internal clients 
  • Demonstrated organization skills and attention to details


  • Experience with database software such as Filemaker Pro 
  • A printed, electronic, or online portfolio (PDF) required 
  • Hands-on production skills (i.e. making paper comps) 
  • Experience with commercial print vendors 
  • Photography skills including shooting, photo selection, and manipulation


Summer 2017 (June-August)


14 - 21 hours/week, flexible over a Monday-Friday schedule


$11.00 & $11.25 hourly
