PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

The Clubhouse is an out-of-school digital design studio where youth, ages 10-18, explore innovative ways to express themselves through technology. With support from volunteer mentors, Clubhouse members work on projects based on their own interests, designing their own animations, interactive stories, music videos, robotic constructions, and other inspiring creations. Through the Clubhouse, youth become more capable, confident, and creative learners.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Flagship Clubhouse Intern will assist with day to day operations of the Flagship Clubhouse – including leading workshops, creating materials and working with other youth in the space. In addition to working with Clubhouse members, this person will serve as a mentor for four high school interns, providing support, technical assistance and encouragement. Working with the four high school interns, the Flagship Clubhouse Intern will help plan, organize and facilitate workshops and activities at 5-6 local events over the course of the summer. They will also have the opportunity to gain unique multi-media production skills and valuable work experience in youth development.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Guide and support members, guests and other Clubhouse visitors in learning Clubhouse software and technology
  • Work directly with 4 high school interns to serve as a mentor in their summer work.
  • Facilitate technology and leadership workshops for both high school interns and younger Clubhouse members 
  • Plan, organize and facilitate workshops and activities at local fairs, festivals and events while representing The Clubhouse. 
  • Assist with general Clubhouse maintenance and day to day activities

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience with youth ages 10-18
  • Experience working with various creative technologies (ie. Graphic design, robotics, computer coding, music production etc) 
  • Interest in the Clubhouse philosophy and informal learning 
  • Willingness to meet new people and share ideas

SPECIAL SKILLS:

  • • Experience facilitating hands on activities


LENGTH OF INTERNSHIP:

Summer (June-August)


WORK SCHEDULE:

Schedule flexible Tuesday-Saturday. Some Saturdays required (5-6 over course of summer)


STARTING SALARY:

$11.00 & $11.25 hourly
