About the Internship

The Greensboro Science Center is looking for a qualified intern for a summer event rentals internship. The intern will assist the rental staff in all aspects of facilitating rentals. Interns should expect to learn best practices for meeting with clients, booking rentals, planning events, and seeing an event through including post event follow up. Interns will learn skills to prepare them for a full-time career in this highly competitive field.  Interns will assist with a variety of events, from corporate lunches, to corporate dinners, wedding rehearsals, ceremonies and receptions. Additionally, interns will assist with the planning and execution of GSC events including the annual See to Believe gala.


What would I be doing as an Event Rentals Intern?

  • Meeting with potential clients to tour venues and learn about the rental program.
  • Create portfolios including contracts for each booked client.
  • Maintain communication with clients to facilitate all aspects of the rental.
  • Construct venue layouts to meet the needs of the rental.
  • Complete walk-throughs with the clients and vendors to ensure all aspects of the rental are fulfilled.
  • Maintain communication with staff to ensure staff coverage for the rental.
  • Assist with the set-up of the rental.
  • Complete post rental evaluation and paperwork.
  • Become familiar with AV and music set-up


What would my schedule be like?

The Rental intern is typically on site for 15-20 hours each week. Schedules must be somewhat flexible since rentals can occur any of the 7 days a week both during operational hours of 9am-5pm as well as after-hours 6pm-11pm. The selected applicant will be expected to start in June and continue through the summer.

  • Interns must be detail oriented and excellent listeners.
  • Interns must have quick trouble shooting abilities.
  • Interns must be able to remain calm and focused in high stress situations.
  • Interns must complete all intern paperwork and pass a background check.
  • Interns should have college level schooling in event planning, hospitality or related field.
  • Preference will be given to senior level or recent college graduates pursuing event planning or venue management as a career.
