The Oregon Coast Aquarium Fish and Invertebrate Internship Program is designed as an educational opportunity to introduce basic animal care, training and husbandry skills for those with an interest in pursuing a future career in aquatic species husbandry utilizing a specially designed syllabus, teaching current industry methods. The candidate will have an opportunity to develop various skills that will be utilized in assisting in the daily care and maintenance of tropical, temperate, marine and freshwater fishes and invertebrates. The intern will be required to follow a syllabus, complete assignments, test, and be responsible for a final project under the supervision of assigned department staff.

The Oregon Coast Aquarium is located in Newport on the Central Oregon Coast. The Aquarium has been consistently rated a Top Ten Aquarium in the country. As a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the Oregon Coast Aquarium is held to stringent requirements for animal husbandry, education and conservation. The Oregon Coast Aquarium does not provide, nor pay for housing – however there are other options available if you are accepted to our intern program. If you are selected for an intern position you will be required to provide a minimum of three (3) references and pass a criminal history background check. A valid driver’s license may be required.
Must have completed a minimum of two years of college, or be a recent college graduate in the field of biology, fish and wildlife science or other related animal fields - within the last two years.
