Seasonal Zoo Teen Naturalist Coordinator

The Zoo Teen Naturalists Coordinator is a seasonal position that will oversee the Zoo Teen volunteers in the Naturalist (Conservation Education) program.  The successful candidate will possess:


  • Extraordinary aptitude for dealing with people aged 13 to 19
  • Past experience in formal or informal education environments
  • A commitment to conservation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work under pressure in a public setting
  • Excellent public speaking skills
  • Electronic media/technology experience
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral communication skills, and writing ability
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas verbally and in writing
  • Ability to multi-task; handle stressful situations and constant deadline pressures
  • Willingness to work flexible hours
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to assess situations and use good procedure/judgment and follow through. 


Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to creating the daily schedule for Zoo Teen Naturalists program, daily mentoring and coaching, assessment of the Zoo Teen Naturalists program, and other daily program duties as assigned. 


Must be able to work Monday thru Friday from 8:30 AM to 4 PM – approximately 37.5 hours per week – pay would be $10 per hour.  Season begins in June and ends in early August. 


Must be willing to work outside, in all kinds of weather conditions; have the physical stamina to stand and walk for long periods of time.


A High School Diploma/G.E.D. is required; post-secondary education preferred.
