The Indianapolis Zoo is a national leader of animal conservation and is an AZA accredited institution. We’re located on a 64 acre campus in the heart of vibrant downtown Indianapolis, and a top tourist destination in the Midwest. In addition to our animal exhibits, gardens, and aquarium, we support local and international animal conservation efforts. The Zoo is a private, 501(c)(3) organization. A Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related field from an accredited college or university is required. A graduate degree in a related field is preferred.
The Primate Curator will manage and oversee all of our primate areas and staff. The Curator has oversight of all areas they manage, and will be directly responsible and accountable for all departmental functions to include, but not limited to.
Experience and Skills required:
A minimum of ten (10) years of direct or related experience in a zoo or similar professional setting.
At least four (4) years of demonstrated management experience.
Temperamentally suited to working with animals
Good supervisory, interpersonal, and observational skills.
Proven decision making and problem solving skills.
Outstanding public speaking skills.
Physical requirements of this position, including but not limited to:
Successfully completing pre-employment requirements of a drug test, driving record check, and a limited criminal history check is a condition of employment.
