Campaign Coordinator

The Cleveland Zoological Society seeks a highly motivated and organized emerging development professional with strong administrative abilities and superior interpersonal, communication and computer skills.  The successful candidate will be a quick learner, accurate, flexible and persistent, who will thrive and provide continuity in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.  The candidate must be comfortable facilitating, communicating and working with a wide range of individuals and will be required to synthesize and summarize information, track and manage multiple deadlines and projects, work independently and reliably, and be productive and efficient during the life of the campaign including an intensive period of planning and development.  The Campaign Coordinator plays a primary role to organize, coordinate, and support the Zoo Society’s fundraising efforts towards completion of a multi-year, multi-project campaign.  Working closely with the Director of Development and Campaign Co-Chairs, the Campaign Coordinator will monitor and accurately track all campaign progress and support all efforts to ensure campaign progress and ultimate success.   This position will be the main point of contact for up to date information regarding the status of all aspects of the comprehensive campaign.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Be the point person for coordination of capital campaign efforts and tracking
  • Oversee the implementation of all day-to-day activities as determined by the overall campaign process, including but not limited to:  correspondence, follow-up with campaign volunteers, campaign meeting scheduling and agenda development, communications and minutes, financial and solicitor reports, etc.
  • Maintain and update prospect lists
  • Monitor progress against monthly goals and prepare reports for the Director of Development, Executive Director and Campaign Leadership
  • Ensure that all prospects, donors, gifts, pledges, visit reports and notes are entered into the donor database in an accurate and timely manner
  • Coordinate and execute campaign recognition
  • Schedule and support campaign committee meetings
  • Schedule donor and committee meetings and tours;  prepare meeting materials, donor profiles, agendas, minutes and follow-up
  • Assist in planning and coordinating of campaign-related events (e.g.  dinners, house parties, groundbreaking, etc.)
  • Regularly conduct a market scan of local and zoo-specific campaigns to benchmark progress and best practices
  • Research and recommend public phase strategies
  • Assist in the planning and serve as the point person responsible for the successful execution of employee and public giving phases of the campaign
  • Coordinate with fundraising staff and campaign committee members in securing solicitation meetings and prepare pitch kit materials
  • Organize packets/supporting documents for individual, foundation and corporate proposals
  • Participate as a member of the Zoo Society event team
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned

Experience Required

Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree and two years of development experience required • Raiser’s Edge database experience required • Excellent Microsoft Word and Excel skills • Analytical and strategic organizational and project management skills including effective time management • Superior verbal and written communication skills • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and follow assignments through to completion • Extremely detail oriented and resourceful; must produce polished and highly accurate work
