Zoo Veterinarian
The Virginia Zoo is looking to fill the position of Zoo Veterinarian to join its leadership team, to support the Zoo’s mission and strategic initiatives, to participate in a team-oriented organization, and to provide energetic leadership for its animal medical team. The Zoo is located in Norfolk, in the region of Coastal Virginia. Norfolk offers the excitement of a thriving downtown community, a host of water and outdoor activities, fine and visual arts, culinary experiences, and more. The area is home to more than 1.6 million people living from the seaside community of Virginia Beach (18 miles east of Norfolk) to the rural areas of Suffolk to the west. The Virginia Zoo is presently cultivating support for the design and construction of an Animal EdVenture & Exploration Campus. The Zoo opened a new Animal Wellness Campus (Veterinary hospital and animal diet kitchen) in 2014. The Zoo offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. Experience Required
Two (2) years of professional veterinary experience in zoological, exotic, and/or wildlife medicine.
