Director of Development

The Texas State Aquarium provides high quality, entertaining programming through education, conservation, and wildlife rehabilitation. We strive to provide our guests with an exciting, educational, and memorable experience.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership and direction for the completion of a major capital campaign. 
  • Create and implement a comprehensive annual fundraising plan, including, but not limited to, annual appeals, major gift solicitation, corporate and foundation giving, special event fundraising, and planned giving. 
  • Identify, cultivate and solicit donors for major gifts. 
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with individuals, foundations, stakeholders and corporate donors on TSA’s behalf. 
  • Develop and maintain forecasts of annual contributed income goals and expense budgets.
  • Ensure donor retention through a stewardship plan that includes appropriate gift acknowledgement and recognition.
  • Oversee the Development office staff involved in the planning and execution of fundraising events.

Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, or related field from a four-year college or university required, Master’s degree preferred; five years of progressive experience in related field and minimum five years of previous managerial/leadership experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
