Human Resources Manager

Job Overview: The Human Resources Manager coordinates core HR functions for the Johnny Morris' Wonders of Wildlife Foundation / Conservation Attractions. The HRM provides operational and leadership support for multiple HR programs including total rewards, HRIS and payroll administration, employee relations, risk management and compliance, and more. This position further bolsters our employer brand through regular feedback sessions with internal and external stakeholders.

**This position will primarily work in Springfield, MO with regular travel to Ridgedale, MO And Lampe, MO locations. HRM must be willing to travel between all Conservation Attractions.**

Primary Functions

Total Rewards Program:

  • Provides operational support for Total Rewards Program.
  • In partnership with HR Director, benchmarks benefit and compensation program to ensure competitive offerings while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
  • Serves as 401(k) Plan administrator; conducts internal 401(k) audits and participates in annual 401(k) audit.
  • Partners with HR Generalist and benefit brokers to resolve complex benefit issues.
  • Configures benefit administration system to ensure smooth and accurate data records; supports complex integrations between benefit administration system and vendor portals.
  • Collects and acts on benefit feedback and suggestions from HR Generalists and Talent Acquisition and Onboarding Specialist.
  • Audits benefit invoices for accuracy.

HRIS and Payroll Administration:

  • Coordinates biweekly payroll operations. Partners with Accounting/Finance team on regular payroll audits.
  • Acts as the subject matter expert (SME) for most HR-related portals including HRIS, benefit portals, 401(k) recordkeeping website, etc.
  • Ensures completion of year-end reports/checklists including W2 preparation and health care reporting.
  • Along with Generalists, inputs, audits, and reports on with payroll deductions, wage garnishments, memos, and other similar transactions.

Employee Relations:

  • Supports DEI efforts across all properties; upholds a culture of respect.
  • Acts as counsel to management on complex employee issues.
  • Orchestrates performance development program; partners with Safety and Training Manager on training/development needs.
  • Participates in employee investigations and disciplinary matters as required.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Partners with Safety and Training Manager to evaluate and reduce injury claims.
  • Participates in BLS-required reporting.
  • Participates in EEO-1 reporting.
  • Conducts wage audits as directed.

People / Departmental Management:

  • Hires, trains, evaluates, and coaches team of HR Generalists.
  • Responsible for monthly budget reconciliation and variance reporting; supports the development of annual HR budget; measures ROI of HR programs.
  • Regularly partners with Volunteer Manager and other leadership on people/team initiatives.
  • Builds relationships with staff and leadership to enhance internal brand.
