Department: Marketing + Communications + Public Relations

General Summary:  

 

The Senior Vice President (SVP) of Marketing reports to the Executive Vice President/Chief Administrative Officer and is a member of the Executive leadership team. The SVP of Marketing will be responsible for creating the strategic vision for Audubon's overall marketing and communications function. The SVP of Marketing will lead plans to maximize Audubon’s revenues by developing and executing strategic marketing campaigns that drive attendance and support the mission. The SVP of Marketing will focus on planning, development, and implementation of all marketing strategies, marketing communications, and public relations activities. The SVP of Marketing oversees development and implementation of marketing, communications and public relations support materials and services for Audubon’s organization-wide priorities and for other department’s priorities as needed. 

 

 

 

To deliver on the Audubon mission, the Senior Vice President of Marketing will: 

 

•    Develop and deploy robust marketing capabilities, including technology fluency, digital expertise, and data analytics, to drive attendance and maintain competitive relevance for the future.

 

•    Be responsible for creating, implementing, and measuring the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations programs that will enhance Audubon’s image and position within the marketplace while promoting attendance.  

 

•    Work with advertising agencies and partners to maximize the return on retail and brand advertising campaigns in terms of admissions and engagement. 

 

•    Develop a strong and distinctive brand platform, supported by effective internal communication practices, to advance Audubon’s reputation and visibility.

 

•    Ensure articulation of Audubon’s desired image and story by assuring consistent communication of image and position with all constituencies.

 

•    Ensure our story is distributed across multimedia channels and to targeted audiences in support of our overall strategic goals for attendance, revenue and engagement.

 

•    Spearhead Audubon’s new visual identity and website rollout and develop brand guidelines.

 

•    Coordinate media interest in the organization and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests.

 

•    Be responsible for facilitation of external communications and community relations activities and materials, including publications, media relations, and outreach. 

 

•    Interact with and lead a team representing a variety of marketing and communications disciplines while keeping everyone on the same cohesive strategy.

 

•    Enforce all policies approved by the CEO/Chief of Staff & Board of Trustees.

 

 

 

Perform Management Duties:

 

•    Directs the efforts of Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations team. Coordinates at the strategic and tactical levels with the other functions of the organization.

 

•    Serves as a collaborative leader that coaches, supervises, and evaluates Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations, teams and ensures staff members have the tools needed to accomplish their jobs. 

 

•    Provides guidance to reports and tracks performance against the marketing plan.

 

•    Communicates regularly with marketing team to strategize about status of campaigns and Public Relations activities; evaluates areas needing focus and growth.

 

•    Explores new ideas through professional growth opportunities.

 

•    Regularly conducts relevant market research and monitors trends.

Qualifications: 

 

1.    Proven experience in brand management and innovative, strategic marketing.

 

2.    Proven experience in driving sales and increasing community visibility

 

3.    Proven experience with developing successful strategic, mission-consistent partnerships that promote sales and visibility

 

4.    Demonstrated success in working directly with high-profile community leaders and stakeholders 

 

5.    Experience with SEO and SEM tools like Google Analytics, Google AdWords, Omni channel marketing, etc.

 

6.    Strong analytical and data interpretation skills 

 

7.    Strong commitment to equity and demonstrated success building and supporting diverse and inclusive teams.

 

8.    High level of creativity, professionalism, and ethical standards.  

 

9.    Experienced with developing short- and long-term plans and budgets for marketing, communication, public relations programs, and activities; monitoring progress; assuring adherence to budget targets and evaluating performance.

 

10.    Ability to maximize limited resources for the achievement of the marketing mission, goals, and financial objectives. 

 

 

 

Education: 

 

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field. 

Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in marketing preferably in a tourism driven economy.

Minimum of 5 years of experience leading diverse creative disciplines.

Licensure/Certification:  Must possess a valid driver’s license. 

Software Requirements:  Proficiency in MS Office 365.

 

 

Physical Requirements:

 

1.     Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  May involve sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.

 

2.    Sitting or standing, bending, stooping, and the ability to carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.

 

3.    Constant adequate range of motion and mobility required.

 

4.    Regular near acuity with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less required. 

 

5.    Typical ability to collect and analyze numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions and ability to determine the time, place and sequence of operations or actions required.

 

6.    Regular talking and the ability to express and exchange ideas by means of language expected.

 

7.    Regular hearing and the ability to perceive the nature of sounds.

 

8.    Constant ability to read, record, or type data quickly and accurately required.

 

9.    Must possess excellent organizational skills.

 

10.    Must possess ability to work independently with little supervision as well as part of a team.

 

11.    Must have good written and oral communication skills.

 

12.    Must possess the ability to make sound decisions in the absence of supervision, assume responsibility without direction and a willingness to assist in achieving Audubon, facility, program and community partner goals.

 

 

 

Machinery/Tools/Equipment Requirements:  Must have the ability to use mobile devices, computer, fax, scanner, phone and copy machine.

 

 

 

Environmental/Working Conditions:

 

1.    Working long hours between breaks or meals required.

 

2.    Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner required.

 

3.    May be exposed to high, medium, or low noise intensity.

 

4.    Constant contact with co-workers required.

 

5.    Affinity for animals preferred.

 

6.    Exposure to fluctuations in temperatures may be required.

 

7.    Exposure to outdoor conditions may be required.

 

8.    Must be willing to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
