A School Programs Education Presenter (SPEP) is directly responsible for delivering engaging, accurate and high-energy informal science education programs to Pre K – high school students and performs a variety of productions both at the aquarium itself as well as offsite as assigned.
The SPEP position reports directly to the School Programs Managers (Outreach & Field Trips) and collaborates with the managers, leads, and fellow presenters to improve current programs and develop new ones. The SPEP works both within a pair of LLPA Presenters and individually to deliver Educational content to various groups throughout the state of Utah.
This position starts at $14 an hour.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Bachelor`s degree in Biology, Zoology, Marine Science, Environmental Science, Education, or a related field is preferred. Experience in STEM programming; development and implementation is preferred.
Physical Demands of the Job:
This job requires periods of standing and walking as well as extended periods of sitting with data entry. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must have the energy to maintain a high-energy, positive presentation style for duration of presentation (ranges from 20-55 minutes).
Special Working Conditions:
Job will primarily be in a classroom environment with additional office time when assigned. Periodic weekend or evening work is expected and some holidays. It will also require handling a variety of animals in a safe manner, while interacting with diverse populations. Forty (40) hour work week with some weekends, with occasional extended visits – schedule includes travel and overnight stay in Utah counties. Must wear issued uniforms and adhere to dress code standards.
