Come join us at one of the top 10 fastest growing zoos in the country! The Lincoln Children’s Zoo is home to a extremely diverse collection of animals and is the 2nd largest tourist attraction in Nebraska. We recently completed a $25 million expansion that doubled the size of the zoo and added giant anteaters, cheetahs, giraffes, Sumatran tigers, and an indoor play structure with spider monkeys. Consistently rated among the nation’s best zoos for Children, we have been featured on the Today Show, Time Magazine, ABC News, USA Today, Buzzfeed, CNN and National Geographic.
The Apprenticeship program:
This program is open to recent college graduates and is designed as an intermediate step between an internship and a traditional paid position. Apprentices are fully integrated members of the animal care team and are given more responsibilities and in depth opportunities than a typical internship.
After a period of training working directly with Animal Department staff members, apprentices will be responsible for the daily husbandry needs of a variety of animals. This includes daily observations and record keeping, distribution of medications, exhibit cleaning and maintenance, feeding and diet preparation, and enrichment. There may also be opportunities for public speaking, animal training, and other special projects.

• We are there for each other.
• We generate enthusiasm.
