Development and Grant Coordinator

At the Tennessee Aquarium, our mission is to connect people with nature and empower them to make informed decisions about water and wildlife. The Development and Grant Coordinator is responsible for managing post award services and oversight of state and federal grant awards to ensure compliance with OMB Uniform Guidance and grant specific requirements. This position serves as a resource for staff of grant funded programs for fiscal and programmatic compliance matters. The position is also responsible for some administrative support for the Development office. This position is currently budgeted for two (2) years, with possible extension.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Work with the Development & Strategy Officer, Director of Finance, and grant program staff to implement established grant compliance policies and procedures to monitor grant funds and expenditures.
  2. Monitor, verify, and reclass errors in grant charges, accounting, and close outs;
  3. Establish and maintain electronic files for each grant-funded project to be used for tracking and reporting purposes;
  4. Conduct routine compliance reviews of grant programs;
  5. Review policies/procedures/systems in accordance with government regulations and organizational needs and objectives.
  6. Provide backup support for data entry.
  7. Compose and/or proofread correspondence.
  8. Provide prompt and courteous service for internal and external contacts.
  9. Support the team during occasional special events.
  10. Maintain effective organization and communication.
  11. Execute and maintain core values and service standards of the Tennessee Aquarium.
  12. Perform other necessary tasks as assigned by the Development & Strategy Officer or other Aquarium leadership.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of three years of work experience in grant administration, finance, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with project management, economic and/or financial compliance activities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; written and oral communication skills; and budgeting and spread sheet skills.
  • An effective team player who communicates seamlessly with different departments at various levels within the organization and maintains confidentiality as appropriate.
  • Proficient in MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to work independently and support multiple projects.
