The Wild Animal Sanctuary - Texas

TWAS-Texas is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that provides a permanent safe haven for exotic animals that have been abused, abandoned or neglected.

Animal Care Internship - Large Carnivores

This internship includes learning proper safety procedures, diet preparation, feeding, cleaning, animal health, animal management, behavioral observations, enrichment, and record keeping for exotics. Interns will assist with construction and habitat modification and related activities. Interns will also be involved with the volunteer program, and both formal and informal presentations.
**This is a strict no contact position**
**Free housing and a vehicle are provided**
**This is an unpaid internship**

Fall 2021 Session (Aug 29th-Nov 26th)
Winter 2021 Session (Nov 28th-Feb 25th)
Spring 2022 Session (Feb 27th-May 27th)
Summer 2022 Session (May 29th-Aug 26th)

Experience Required

Interns will need to have either 3 years of animal related experience or 2 years of undergraduate studies in biology, zoology, animal science or a related major. Must be able to lift 50lbs and work outside in various weather conditions.

Please also include if you are interested in the 3 or 6 month internship session. If you have any related internship or volunteer experience, we recommend including a letter of recommendation from that facility.
