Idaho Falls Zoo – General Curator Position
Idaho Falls Zoo is beginning initial recruitment (and assessing interest) for one of the following two positions. One full-time position will be posted and filled. We anticipate filling this position in early to mid summer.

About the General Curator Position
The General Curator reports to the Zoo Executive Director and has management responsibility for all aspects of the animal collection and the Animal Care department. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Compensation: Salary range is $55 – $75,000 with a very generous benefits package (minimum 3 weeks paid vacation, 11 paid holidays, health insurance, dental and vision insurance, and retirement plan).
About Idaho Falls Zoo
Idaho Falls Zoo has been an AZA-accredited zoo since 1998 and was the first zoo in Idaho to be accredited. The zoo is home to over 300 animals representing 100+ unique species from around the world. These include many large carnivore species, several primate species, and a very diverse bird collection. The zoo currently participates in 45 SSP programs. Featured species include lions, snow leopards, gibbons, African penguins, and Chilean flamingos. The zoo currently occupies 8 acres, with another 10+ acres available for development. Idaho Falls Zoo is a valuable asset to the local community and enjoys a tremendous amount of public support.
About the Community
Idaho Falls is a mid-sized city with a metro population of about 100,000. It is the largest city in eastern Idaho and is the regional center for commerce and health care. The Idaho National Laboratory is a major employer in the region. The nearest large population centers are Salt Lake City (200 miles) and Boise (250 miles). The Snake River flows through the center of town and provides the setting for the River Walk, a 5 mile stretch of parks and trails. Tautphaus Park is home to the Idaho Falls Zoo as well as an ice arena, skate park, small amusement park and lots of open space. Idaho Falls experiences a typical high desert climate with cold dry winters and warm dry summers. Eastern Idaho is a mecca for outdoor recreation. Idaho Falls is approximately 100 miles from 3 national parks (Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Craters of the Moon) and is minutes from millions of acres of public lands (BLM and National Forests). Outdoor recreation opportunities include hiking, mountain biking, rafting, rock climbing, camping, skiing, snow-shoeing, hunting, and fishing. The resort towns of Jackson, WY and Sun Valley, ID are within easy driving distance.
