Part Time Aquarist I
Description:
Fish Guys by zoOceanarium Group is continuing to expand their team and looking to recruit a talented Part Time Aquarist I for its business in Tennessee. You will be responsible for assisting with day-to-day husbandry operations at the Group Headquarters (HQ) and offsite at customer properties including the care, procurement, maintenance, and wellbeing of all animals under the company’s cares. Experience with animal biology and a strong background in fresh and saltwater aquariums required.
Duties:
- Ensure animal care and displays meet compliance of company and facility specific policies and procedures.
- Work closely and effectively with other departments.
- Ensure all medical treatments are performed as required.
- Assist in dispensing diets, supplies and completing site visit reports.
- Perform public relations functions associated with the department, facility and company as requested.
- Manage and maintain the inventory in order to reduce loss, waste and control costs.
- Proactively assist in the implementation of new exhibits and educational opportunities in order to maximize revenues and customer satisfaction.
- Actively seek and implement cost saving programs in order for the facility to operate as efficiently as possible.
- Assist in driving supplies and running routes to Fish Guys by zoOceanarium Group customers.
Position Requirements:
- One year + experience with animal husbandry required.
- PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent preferred.
- First Aid, CPR and AED certification (or able to obtain within 90 days of employment).
- Degree in wildlife/marine biology or relevant work experience required.
- Experienced animal biologist with a strong background in fresh and saltwater aquariums required.
- Experience in the care of flora and fauna in a public aquarium setting preferred.
- Able to pass Motor Vehicle and Background Check with clean driving history and no moving violations or outstanding tickets.
- Possess a valid TN Class D vehicle license or ability to get one within 90 days of employment.
- Competency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong listening, presentation and decision-making skills.
- Good organizational skills.
