Life Support Operator
The Downtown Aquarium is an AZA accredited institution located in Houston, Texas and is seeking a Life Support Operator for exhibits and water features.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conducting daily rounds on aquatic equipment and life support systems.
- Performing and recording daily water quality testing.
- Taking on basic plumbing assignments.
- Maintaining and monitoring of all aquatic filtration systems on property.
- Repairing of equipment when needed. This usually involves, but is not limited to, changing bearings, seals, and impellers on motors as they go bad.
- Assisting with and work closely alongside other departments as needed.
- Routine cleaning of different life support areas.
- Assisting other Life Support Operators with tasks and projects.
- Technical repairs at other locations for the company.
- Other duties as they arise.
Job Requirements:
- Have at least one year experience with pool, water treatment, and/or aquatic life support equipment.
- Must be organized and self-motivated with a desire to see projects through to completion
- Should have basic knowledge of pumps, motors and water filtration systems.
- Should have basic mechanical, electrical, carpentry and plumbing skills.
- Must have basic automation or computer knowledge.
- Must be willing to work in various conditions as well as indoors and outdoors.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, after-hours, holidays, and weekends.
- Must be on-call for emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, bend, stand, kneel, walk and lift up to 50lbs.
