Group Sales Manager

General Statement:
The Group Sales Manager is responsible for assisting in the development and managing the implementation of the Arizona Center for Nature Conservation’s (ACNC) corporate, group and tourism sales strategies related to bulk tickets, consignment sales and program/tour sales. The Group Sales Manager will also oversee the Group Event sales team responsible for on-site venue rentals for corporate and social events. The Group Sales Manager must have strong relationships, proven success in selling to specific target audiences and in-depth knowledge of the Phoenix Metropolitan corporate, group and tourism segments as well as the cultural and entertainment market.
Essential Duties:
  1. Provide quality guest service to both internal and external guests by maintaining a WILD (friendly, helpful, positive, and professional) working attitude and appearance.
  2. Cultivate and engage travel organizations, groups, and corporations such as online travel agencies, CVBs, hotels, local tour operators, attractions, employee discount brokers, alumni organizations, large employers, etc. to generate sales leads.
  3. Implement and maintain consignment ticket program to engage new participants. Develop streamlined process for existing 3rd party ticket brokers.
  4. Conduct sales calls and presentations to existing and new accounts on bulk tickets, consignment tickets, group special event tickets, membership bulk buys and paid educational programming such as behind the scenes’ tours.
  5. Research, identify, develop sales leads for traditional and non-traditional new accounts, while maintaining strong relationships with existing accounts.
  6. Develop and implement an annual sales plan including list of options, pricing, and action plans to reach the ACNC’s corporate, group and tourism sales and revenue goals for bulk ticket/consignment ticket purchases.
  7. Monitor market conditions, emerging products, and competitor activity, and adjust sales approach and programs to address changing market dynamics.
  8. Prepare and analyze monthly sales and financial performance reports monitoring admissions and revenue against targets. Evaluate new initiatives and present recommendations based on results.
  9. Prospect and develop new business by attending trade shows, travel missions, community events and industry meetings.
  10. Host FAM visits, organizing experiences to highlight the unique qualities of the ACNC.
  11. Collaborate with Marketing & Communications, on the creation of sales and promotional collateral to support marketing to specific target audiences.
  12. Collaborate with Guest Services and Information Technology on evaluating and recommending online solution for online tour agencies, concierge, corporate and group ticket sales.
  13. Work collaboratively with other departments to accomplish the ACNC’s mission of advancing the stewardship and conservation of animals and their habitats while providing experiences that inspire people and motivate them to care for the natural world.

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Sales or related field
  2. Minimum 5 years of experience in travel/tourism account sales for a destination or attraction required.
  3. In-depth knowledge of the Phoenix Metropolitan corporate, group, tourism, cultural and entertainment market
  4. Proven success in selling to corporate, group and tourism audiences.
  5. Self-starter, self-motivator that can work under pressure to meet deadlines and ensure timely action.
  6. Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  7. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  8. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  9. Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  10. Collaborative, creative thinker
  11. Experience with negotiating, updating, and reviewing contracts.
  12. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  13. Knowledge of online group sales solutions
  14. Flexible schedule, willing to work after hours, weekends and holidays.
  15. Possession of a valid drivers’ license required.
  16. Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  17. Ability to pass pre-employment background check, drug test, DMV check and clear annual TB test.
