Planned Giving Officer - PT

As a Planned Giving Officer (PGO), you would be a valued member of the development team who works in tandem with Directors of Development to secure blended gifts/outright and planned gifts within all areas of the zoo. You will be responsible for estate planning, including wills, trusts, income, estate, and gift tax laws. To identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward a donors' portfolio and serve as a resource to the zoo.

You must be fully committed to San Antonio Zoo's mission to create awareness that inspires action to care for the wildlife we steward and animals we protect. You take pride in knowing your hard work is making a difference in wildlife conservation.


  • Minimum of five years of experience in planned giving fundraising or estate, tax, or financial-related business experience is required.

  • Progressive experience and knowledge of best practices in development, sales, or businesses related to cultivating high net worth individuals.

  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-through, as demonstrated through practical project management experience.

  • Demonstrated writing and editing skills.

  • Outstanding ability to work effectively in teams of diverse people and organizations.

  • Experience working with a database, as well as with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint

  • Strong organizational, communications, problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Highly self-motivated and directed.

  • Responsibility for completion of all online training curriculum by assigned deadline.

  • Successful candidates must complete a pre-employment National Sex Offender Search, Criminal Background Check, and Drug Screen.

  • Must be able to work in varying climates and weather conditions (rain, snow, hot, or cold).
