Mystic Aquarium is among the nation’s leading aquariums with more than 300 species and an extensive collection of marine mammals, including New England’s only beluga whales. Mystic Aquarium has been a pioneer in offering guests a variety of up close encounters with a wide range of marine animals. The mission of Mystic Aquarium is to inspire people to care for and protect our ocean environment through conservation, education, and research.
Mystic Aquarium-University of CT Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU)
Spend your summer doing research on how global change (e.g. pollution, climate change) affects marine organisms and their ecosystems! Our National Science Foundation funded REU offers a unique collaboration between the renowned Mystic Aquarium in Mystic, CT and the University of CT, Avery Point located on Long Island Sound. The program is offered for 10 weeks in the summer (June-August) and includes a monthly stipend, room and board and travel expenses.
