Basic Function: Responsible for the daily care of the animals in the Wild Florida loop. Must be able to work as an integral part of the zoo team and communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors and guests.
Responsibilities: Performs skilled assignments related to the care and feeding of a variety of animals found in the Wild Florida section of the Zoo in addition to some additional species found throughout the Zoo. This includes a Florida black bear, red and gray foxes, bobcat, North American river otters, bard owl, bald eagles, caracara, sandhill cranes, white tailed deer, as well as some non-native species like siamangs, various types of macaws, flying foxes, and more. Once trained, must be knowledgeable and comfortable working with all species in this area on a regular basis. Must be willing to work with and under guidance of Animal Behavior and Wellness Coordinator to ensure Brevard Zoo’s standards of animal wellness are being maintained at all times.
