Each year as part of the February session of professional development courses, students and instructors bring items from their home institutions and communities to donate to silent and live auctions conducted at the end of the week of courses. Revenue from the auctions supports the Professional Development Program and since 2012 has funded two emerging professional tuition scholarships, one for a zoo professional and one for an aquarium professional.
This scholarship covers the cost of tuition only to any non-management related AZA course.
Click here for Emerging Aquarium or here for Emerging Zoo's 2019 scholarship application. Full submission information is included in the application. Only one scholarship application may be submitted per individual per year. Applications are evaluated and recipients are chosen by the AZA Professional Development Committee. You must be an individual member at an AZA-accredited or certified facility to apply.

The 2019-2020 scholarship cycle is closed. Check back in May 2020 for information regarding the 2020-2021 cycle!
Please note: If you do not receive the award and plan to take the course anyway, the scholarship application does not represent a reserved space in an AZA course. To secure a space in a course you must submit a completed registration form, and pay the tuition in full. If you receive the award, your full tuition payment will be refunded.
