MSU Theater department bringing conservation musical to Mississippi Aquarium

One of Mississippi Aquarium's most beloved residents is the inspiration for an original children's musical written and performed by the Mississippi State University Theater Department. "Banner: A Sea Turtle Saga" is a fictional account based loosely on the story of Banner, Mississippi Aquarium's resident endangered Green sea turtle. It will make its Coastal Mississippi debut on Nov. 22. with a 2:30 p.m. performance in Changing Tides presented by Keesler Federal Credit Union at Mississippi Aquarium. Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. Admission to the play is free for Aquarium members and is part of the standard general admission ticket price for nonmembers. On the day of the performance, students up to age 18 will receive 50 percent off a general admission ticket to Mississippi Aquarium. Mississippi Aquarium will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 22. The last admission into the park is at 4 p.m. The musical tells the story of the titular Green sea turtle who returns to the ocean after a short rehab stint on land. Once Banner is back in the water, the turtle meets several colorful marine characters. It teaches a message of conservation and earth stewardship through the use of extravagant puppets and original songs
