Seattle Aquarium Welcomes Visitors Back Starting February 9th Following Temporary Closure

SEATTLE, WA —The Seattle Aquarium will open its doors to visitors on Tuesday, February 9th, following a temporary closure to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Visitors will once again be able to visit fan-favorites like the Aquarium’s sea otters and giant Pacific octopuses. The Aquarium will be open from 9:30am to 6pm seven days a week.

To keep visitors, employees, volunteers and animals safe, the Aquarium will be open at 15% capacity and will follow state regulations related to indoor spaces for either phase 1 or 2 of the Healthy Washington reopening plan. Visitors will be required to purchase timed ticketed in advance; once they arrive, they’ll find a one-way path and open-air flow, providing ventilation throughout the exhibits. The Aquarium will be utilizing new bipolar ionization air-handling systems and will continue enhanced cleaning protocols. Visitors will be required to wear masks and adhere to physical distancing guidelines throughout the visit.

“The safety of our guests, staff, animals and community is our top priority,” said President and CEO Bob Davidson. “We’ve put all measures in place to ensure safety during COVID-19 as well as a great guest experience at the Aquarium.”

Visitors of the Aquarium will also now have the option for plan-ahead pricing, allowing them to choose the best time to visit depending on their budget and schedule.
