Ambassador Eagle to Celebrate 30th Birthday

Springfield, MO –Phoenix the bald eagle is hitting a milestone birthday on Sunday, July 28, and Dickerson Park Zoo will share her story at a special birthday celebration at 1:30 p.m. at the zoo’s amphitheater.

Phoenix arrived at the Dickerson Park Zoo’s Raptor Rehab on July 28, 1989. She was approximately 12-weeks old and required intensive care, which imprinted her on humans to the point she could not be released.

Phoenix is one of the most recognized animal ambassadors for the Friends of the Zoo education department. She has been seen and admired by hundreds of thousands of people over the past 30 years at Eagle Days programs and zoo presentations.

Zoo guests will have a chance to see Phoenix and hear more about her impact on conservation efforts.

Dickerson Park Zoo is open daily from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Daily admission is $15 for 13+, $10 for kids 3-12 and free for kids two and under or Friends of the Zoo members. Phoenix’s party is included with admission.
