More than 90 percent of Association of Zoos and Aquariums-accredited facilities have reopened after closing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our members have worked tirelessly to continue their high standard of animal care and to prepare for your safe visit. Please know that you are welcome to visit your local AZA-accredited aquarium or zoo for a safe and enjoyable experience.
Some of the COVID-19 precautions being taken to keep you and your family safe include:
You can feel safe when you visit an AZA-accredited facility because our members are taking guest safety seriously with capacity limits for guests and increased cleaning throughout the grounds. Many facilities require all staff to wear facial coverings. Many zoos and aquariums have designated “break” areas, where guests can safely social distance and remove their masks to eat or drink. Each facility has their own local and state regulations to follow, so please check their website for more information and for tickets before you visit.
The animal care and welfare at AZA-accredited facilities has never faltered despite the challenges of the pandemic. Your visit provides important support for both the animals and dedicated staff at your local AZA-accredited aquarium or zoo—and they can’t wait to welcome you back.
Thank you for supporting AZA and our wonderful members!
