Many Association of Zoos and Aquariums-accredited facilities have reopened after closing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our members have worked tirelessly to continue their high standard of animal care and to prepare for your safe visit. Please know that you are welcome to visit your local AZA-accredited aquarium or zoo for a safe and enjoyable experience.
COVID-19 Safety Precautions
Each facility has their own local and state regulations to follow, so please check their website for more information and for tickets before you visit. While these regulations may fluctuate with the evolution of the virus, each of our members are following the guidance of local, state, and federal officials.
Some of the COVID-19 precautions being taken across our membership to keep you and your family safe include:
- Advanced ticket purchase or reservation for a specific entrance time
- Facial covering requirements
- One-way traffic patterns
- Pausing the use of high-touch surfaces
- Clear signage to help guests social distance
- Cashless transactions
You can feel safe when you visit an AZA-accredited facility because our members are taking guest safety seriously with capacity limits for guests and increased cleaning throughout the grounds. These precautions are in place to keep guests, staff, and animals safe as some species of animals in our care are susceptible to the virus.
Support Zoos and Aquariums with Your Visit
The animal care and welfare at AZA-accredited facilities has never faltered despite the challenges of the pandemic. Your visit provides important support for both the animals and dedicated staff at your local AZA-accredited aquarium or zoo—and they can’t wait to welcome you back.
Thank you for supporting AZA and our wonderful members!
