SILVER SPRING, Md. – Today, Virgin Holidays’ announced a three-year, $300,000 donation to National Aquarium, located in Baltimore, an Association of Zoos & Aquariums accredited member, in support of their planned dolphin sanctuary for its Atlantic bottlenose dolphins. In response to the announcement, Dan Ashe, President and CEO of AZA, released the following statement:
“Each accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums makes animal care and wellness their highest priority, making decisions appropriate for their institution within the construct of our rigorous standards. Since 2016, National Aquarium has been exploring a seaside home for the Atlantic bottlenose dolphins in its care. Like many other corporate entities, Virgin Holidays' investment into National Aquariums' effort is another example of how all of our accredited members continue to provide engaging and inspiring opportunities for visitors to see the planet’s best-cared-for animals, and learn how they can help protect and conserve them in nature.”
