Celebrate Earth Day at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens’ Party for the Planet!Apr 12, 2012
April 10, 2012 – Jacksonville, Fl – The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens announces its 2012 Earth Day Celebration, Party for the Planet, on Saturday, April 14th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Local environmental and animal conservation experts will have booths for visitors to learn and collect valuable information on how to preserve our Earth and its wildlife for future generations.
There will be fun for the whole family at this year’s Party for the Planet! Join us on the Great Lawn for the children’s activity area with an eco-friendly craft, a bounce house and inflatable slide, as well as live entertainment from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Range of the Jaguar. Guests can also enjoy live animal encounters, animal enrichment, and a visit from Jazoo, the Zoo’s friendly lion mascot! Earth Day is sponsored by JM Family Enterprises and Southeast Toyota Distributors.
Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens would like to show appreciation for those in the community that drive hybrid cars. On April 14th there will be a limited number of VIP front row parking spaces available in the Zoo’s general parking lot for guests with hybrid cars only. Front row parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited.
Special admission offer! Guests can receive $2 off regular admission when they bring in a minimum of five pounds of paper or they bring in any electronic waste (items that are powered by batteries or electricity) to recycle. This discount cannot be combined with any other discount or offer and is valid on April 14, 2012 only. Please check jacksonvillezoo.org for a list of approved recyclables. Guests must bring in items on April 14, 2012 only.
Jacksonville Zoo’s Party for the Planet is part of an annual event sponsored by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). Zoos from all over the country that are members of the AZA participate. For nearly a century, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens has been dedicated to inspiring the discovery and appreciation of wildlife through innovative experiences in a caring environment. Starting in 1914 with an animal collection that consisted of one red deer fawn, the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens now has more than 2,000 rare and exotic animals and 1,000 plants. It has won national acclaim for its South American Range of the Jaguar exhibit and has the largest botanical garden in Northeast Florida.
