On The Cover
Mom Gari grooms her daughter Gigi, born at the Dallas Zoo in April 2011.  In August, zookeepers also welcomed baby Genie, born to Gari's mother Gerri.  The Zoo has been a member of the Chimpanzee Species Survival Plan® (SSP) for 23 years, with five successful births during that time. The chimps reside at the Dallas Zoo's Kimberly-Clarke Chimpanzee Forest, an open air habitat that is almost one acre and features trees, rocks, a waterfall and stream, natural climbing structures, and a variety of edible plants.
