The National Aquarium is looking for a Grants Manager to write strong, creative grant proposals to current and new corporate, foundation and government supporters, find and contact prospective donors and build and maintain a portfolio of prospects and donors for cultivation and solicitation. This position works effectively with donors to maintain confidentiality and compliance with donor instructions and attends networking functions to maintain visibility.


Requirements for this job include a genuine understanding of and commitment to the Aquarium’s mission; a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; a minimum of 3 years of development work experience, with at least 2 years writing grants, preferably within the conservation/environmental sector, or in a zoo/aquarium/museum setting; a track record of producing successful grant applications; exceptional writing skills and excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills; strong attention to detail, demonstrated administrative and organizational skills, and the ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects/deadlines; excellent computer skills; knowledge of local, regional, and national philanthropic landscape.
