Animal Intern (Seasonal - Tropical Ecosystems Team)

The Kansas City Zoo is currently looking to fill a seasonal intern position for the zoo’s “Tropical Ecosystems” team. This group is responsible for the daily husbandry of white-cheeked gibbons, golden-lion tamarins, cotton-topped tamarins, red-handed tamarins, saki monkeys, mona monkeys, Stuhlman’s blue monkeys, African crested porcupines, capybara, prehensile-tailed porcupines, small-clawed otters, crested screamers, common pea fowl, Chilean flamingo, and golden pheasant. This area is also responsible for the daily care of the zoo’s large group of educational outreach program animals.


The wages will be $7.55/hr and the employee will be expected to work 40 hours/week. This temporary position will be employed from May 1-September 2nd, 2014.


Interested individuals must be at least 18 years of age and be working towards a college degree in zoology, or a related field.
