The Wilds Scholar Internship Program is a 10-week intensive training program designed to mentor the professional growth of both graduate and undergraduate students. This program will be offered from May 18th - July 25th, 2014 and couples hands-on field training with intern participation in research at the Wilds. Students will also receive classroom training in principles of ecology, basic GIS, experimental design, and data analysis.
Mentored directly by our research staff, interns will be responsible for an independent study in one of three areas of emphasis: Restoration Ecology, Animal Management and Conservation Medicine, and Field Conservation. Scientific programs at the Wilds are comprised of a team of professionals from various disciplines that provide learning opportunities for students. Join our team and advance your skills by receiving training in one of our following programs:Restoration Ecology, Wetland Restoration, Reforestation Projects, Sustainable Agriculture, Native Wildlife Monitoring, Animal Management and Conservation Medicine, Animal Behavior Monitoring, Veterinary Medicine, Disease Ecology,Field Conservation, Amphibian and Reptile Ecology, Molecular Ecology, Reintroduction/Translocation Studies.
A lodging stipend of $1700.00 will be required upon the start date. This fee covers access to classrooms and meeting space, on-site lodging, full access to our research center and laboratories, use of radios and on-site security, Wilds internship orientation, research methods, project materials, one-on-one mentoring, and field support.
