Education Animal Center Internship

Education Animal Care Interns are able to work directly with Zoo Keepers in our Education department. Interns will provide care of the animal collection (includes mammals, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates, aves, small aquarium), including cleaning and food preparation. They may also perform behavioral observations, make behavioral enrichment, assist keepers with exhibit maintenance, including Nature's Neighborhood set up or other cleaning and miscellaneous yard maintenance. Interns should be prepared to do informal public presentations and assist in staff programming before the end of their internship experience.

Minimum qualifications include college junior or senior status. Prior animal experience is helpful. Recommended majors include biology, pre-vet, environmental science or any related field.

This position requires 16 hours per week minimum, from January through mid May. Hours are generally completed during regular business hours (8:00 - 5:00), any day of the week.

This position is unpaid and housing is not available.
