Responsibilities: This position is located at Conservation Station and is primarily focused on the domestics at Affection Section, exhibit tamarins and marmosets, and the mammals used in presentations and programs with our Guests. Responsible for the care, well-being, management, behavioral conditioning and enrichment of the animal collection. Daily accountabilities include but are not limited to cleaning, animal observation, diet preparation, reporting medical needs and abnormal conditions to zoological managers as well as a strong emphasis on Guest interactions in both informal talks as well as more formal, on microphone presentations. Training with a practical understanding of operant conditioning as it relates to the daily management and research of the species under care is required. This is a salaried, full-time, permanent position.
Basic Qualifications: Demonstrated strong partnering skills
Demonstrated strong observation, evaluation and data collecting skills
Required Education High school degree or equivalent
Combined five years of post-high school education and animal care experience. Minimum of at least 3 years experience in an AZA accredited institution or equivalent.
Preferred Education Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Zoology or related field.
