Predator Keeper

The Birmingham Zoo is seeking a full time keeper to join the Predator department. Under the direction of the Zoological Manager the successful candidate will provide the husbandry care of the animals in the collection, and perform related work to maintain buildings, grounds and guest interpretives in the assigned area. Primary responsibilities will be daily care of the animals including cleaning, observations, enrichment, record keeping, research and training. Clear written and verbal communication skills are an important aspect of the position to maintain a high standard of animal care.

Candidates must have a minimum of one year zoo keeping experience; be motivated, have a great attitude, be team oriented and have polished public presentation skills. The ability to lift 50 pounds and perform strenuous duties in extreme weather is also required. The Birmingham Zoo is an EOE and a drug free work place. Candidates must be able to obtain a valid Alabama State Drivers license within 30 days of hire.
