Volunteer Coordinator

The Oregon Coast Aquarium is currently seeking a Volunteer Services Coordinator. The coordinator develops and implements volunteer programs overseen by the Volunteer Services Manager at the Aquarium. Programs include continuing education for interpretive volunteers, new volunteer orientations, volunteer training and evaluation of content retention, and volunteer recognition efforts. This position is responsible for the administrative aspects of the volunteer program to include; fiscal recording and organization of volunteer program budgets, assimilation of new volunteers and requests from volunteers.

Knowledge and experience with volunteer-based organizations required. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication, as well as organizational skills and an attention to detail, are required. Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in human resources, education or a closely related field is required. Experience in a position related to education, volunteer, and/or interpretive programs in a museum, zoo or aquarium is preferred. Ability to speak Spanish desirable, but not required.

Must be able to work weekends, nights, and/or holidays. The ability to gain and hold an Oregon driver’s license is required. Deadline to submit for this position is September 26th, 2013.
