Summary:Under the supervision of the Zoo Curator, the Seasonal Wildlife Rehab Assistant is a non-exempt position under the FLSA. Providing animal care and maintaining the zoo rehabilitation facilities are the primary responsibilities of this position. This is a 10-20(seasonal variation) hour per week position. Essential Functions:Helping with routine feeding; diet prep; assisting with medical exams; accession of animals from the public; maintaining detailed narratives and charts of animal observation, care and medical treatments; identify and communicate concerns to management in a timely manner; participate in capture and restraint of dangerous animals as directed by management; maintain supply inventories; excellent verbal and written communication skills; all related housekeeping chores and other duties as required.Minimum Qualifications:Experience - One to two years of animal care experience is preferred. Education - College graduate or student pursuing a degree in an animal-related field (i.e. biology, animal science, zoology etc.)Certifications - This employee must possess a valid drivers license.Supplemental Information:Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of the results of a criminal record check.
