Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Director / Veterinary Medical Technician. This position is a specialized within the Atlantis animal health team. This position requires an enthusiastic, dedicated person to meet the challenges of its diverse and large animal collection.

Responsibilities include clinical support, assisting in laboratory protocols and analyses, diagnostics and medical treatment, assessing animal physical and nutritional requirements, equipment and inventory maintenance and completing and upkeep of medical records.

The Veterinary Medical Technician works closely with the marine mammal specialists and aquarists for medical updates, treatments and diagnostics under the supervision of the staff veterinarian. Responsibilities also include performing a wide range of routine to complex procedures, treatments and analyses to provide data for diagnosis and treatment and prevention of disease in a productive and efficient manner.

he Veterinary Technician engages in specified research activities and rehabilitation of marine animals as appropriate and may specialize in areas such as cytology, hematology, serology, immunochemistry, bacteriology, histology.

The Veterinary Technician is responsible for the day to day inspection and equipment, staff and assisting the Lab Manager in stocking processes for pharmaceutical needs and equipment needs.

• Certified Veterinary Technical degree from an accredited veterinary technician program preferred.

• Required Skills/Knowledge: 3 years of veterinary technical experience, at least 1-2 years experience working with exotic/zoo/marine animals.
