This position advances Denver Zoo’s mission and goals by providing a support role for Denver Zoo’s major, planned and capital gifts programs and to other areas within the Development Department as needed. Manage programs and take on specific fundraising responsibilities as outlined below.
•Provides support for Denver Zoo’s growing major and planned gifts and capital fundraising programs.
•Provides support to Gift Planning Manager and Director of Capital and Major Gifts on any special projects.
•Assists the Gift Planning Manager with marketing, material preparation, mailings, events, and other duties as needed.
•Develops, implements and manages the procurement and coordination of in-kind/wish list program, procure in-kind goods and services as needed in coordination with the Development and Membership department.
•Develops, implements and manages the vehicle donation program for the zoo including the associated marketing plan.
•Responsible for the bench adoption program with a specified revenue goal; develop and expansion plan and create a map and tracking system; includes solicitation and fulfillment and the associated marketing plan.
•Responsible for the carousel program with a specified revenue goal, this includes solicitation and fulfillment and the associated marketing plan.
•Responsible for the sculptures program with a specified revenue goal, this includes solicitation and fulfillment and the associated marketing plan.
•Develops, implements and manages a program for the adoption of trees through the zoo; coordinate with the Gift Planning Manager, research the program, develop a map and tracking system; includes solicitation and fulfillment and the associated marketing plan.
•Manages a list of donors using a portfolio system, includes cultivation and solicitation.
•Participates in events as required.
•Manages, coordinates and records requests for donations from other organizations.
•Tracks gifts and expenses as directed.
•Provides back-up to the Development Representative in the area of gift processing, ticket sales for Development Department events and other related tasks as required.
•Participates in overall Development and Membership Department planning and budgeting.
•Serves as a member of the Development/Membership Team.
•Performs various tasks as assigned.
•Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
•Two years of experience in fundraising required (major gifts experience preferred).
•Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
•Strong visual presentation skills.
•Must possess and demonstrate decision making abilities and independent initiative ability.
•Must possess and demonstrate problem solving abilities.
•Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks, re-prioritize work and be flexible, as well as meet tight deadlines.
•Ability to interpret and follow policies and procedures.
•A respect for confidentiality.
•Passion for Denver Zoo and its mission, and ability to engage prospects with same passion.
•Knowledge of database, Internet, spreadsheet, PowerPoint and word processing software.
