School Programs Supervisor

The Phoenix Zoo is currently seeking a School Programs Supervisor to design age-appropriate curriculum for school field trips which includes the Zoo’s School Programs, as well as activities to support classroom learning before and after a field trip. This person will supervise the staff that runs School Programs and be responsible for efficient and effective hiring, training, schedule management, daily oversight, coaching and professional development. The School Programs supervisor will be coordinating all aspects of school programs development, which includes communicating program needs to other departments to ensure the program runs smoothly, and budgeting and inventory control for Program needs. This position also assists in promoting all of our school-focused programs by conducting research, staffing promotional booths, and conducting formal presentations for teachers and school administrators.

Minimum qualifications for this position include a Bachelor’s degree in biology/environmental science, environmental education, or elementary education, minimum 1 year experience managing informal group experiences, experience working with children, teens and young adults, knowledge of child development, Arizona Academic Standards, Common Core Standards, and Next Generation Science Standards, experience in program development/design, and the ability to work a flexible schedule which may require occasional weekend work. In addition to these requirements, the ideal candidate will also be Bi-lingual English-Spanish, possess strong organization skills, and strong oral and written communication skills. All Phoenix Zoo employees are required to pass pre-employment background checks including a drug test, this position also requires a valid Driver’s License, annual TB testing, and ability to obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card.
