Lubee Bat Conservancy is seeking to hire a knowledgeable, outgoing, and responsible Animal Keeper. The successful candidate must possess leadership qualities with the potential to advance within the organization.
The Animal Keeper position is under the general direction of the Director and Head Keeper/Team Leader. The Animal Keeper will provide daily husbandry for a wide variety of Old and New World fruit bat species, along with other animals. The responsibilities and duties of the individual include, but are not necessarily limited to, the maintenance and observation of the health, feeding and care of a variety of species, record keeping, assisting in veterinary procedures, providing medications, assisting in research projects, general grounds maintenance. The individual must possess the ability to give educational presentations to a variety of age groups including Pre-K and Professional organizations.
A BS in a biology related field or AS degree in zoo animal technology and at least six months of paid experience working with wildlife or captive animals is preferred. The successful candidate must display a willingness to work outdoors, have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, possess great organizational and communication skills, and have a solid understanding of mammal biology. The applicant must possess leadership qualities with the potential to advance within the organization. A valid driver’s license is required.
