Keeper II Primates

Audubon Zoo is seeking an enthusiastic professional who is a team player to work with our Primate Division. This position will report directly to the Assistant Curator of Primates.

Essential Skills include but are not limited to:

-Daily care, cleaning, feeding and enrichment of primates

-Accurate record keeping abilities

-Administering medications to animals

-Assisting staff in routine project such as moat cleaning, and exhibit maintenance

-Ability to perform strenuous work in adverse weather conditions

-Shifting of various primates and great apes

-Giving public educational presentations


-Minimum two years paid primate keeper experience in an AZA accredited facility

-Great ape experience a plus

-Bachelors Degree preferred

-Ability to lift 50 lbs

-Ability to obtain a Louisiana drivers license

-Strong interpersonal skills

-Ability to accept direction and work as part of a team

-Experience with operant conditioning and environmental enrichment

-Willing to work weekends, holidays, and overtime

-Good observational, written and oral communication skills

-Current proof of a negative T.B. test
